Four Colleges Recognised For Education Role

From 1945, five catholic secondary schools in the Wellington region accepted teenagers from Poland, (from the Pahiatua Camp), as students: Sacred Heart College. Lower Hutt; Erskine College, (now closed); St. Mary’s College, Wellington; St. Patrick’s College. Wellington and St. Patrick's College, Silverstream.

This year, the Trustees provided a 2025 tertiary fees grant to each of the four surviving secondary schools which welcomed Polish students, and which gave them the opportunity to receive a Catholic secondary school education on which to build new lives in a foreign land.

The students (all nominated by the respective Principals of the schools) were:

- Marianna Boless, (St. Mary’s College, Wellington);

- Laito Fauchelle, (St. Patrick’s College, Silverstream);

- Sam Glynan, (St. Patrick’s College, Wellington); and

- Viktoriya Lyubich, (Sacred Heart College, Lower Hutt).
