In September 2017, Trust Chair, Gordon Noble-Campbell travelled to Poland to join the 75th anniversary of Anders’ Army’s evacuation from the USSR to Persia (now Iran). The evacuation involved the escape of over 100,000 Polish citizens (many women and children) from the clutches of Stalinism in Siberia, through Soviet Central Asia and the Middle East to safety, with some arriving in Wellington, New Zealand in 1944.
